"2011 Best of the Best Culinary Awards", organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, was completed on August 10, 2011. Following keen competition from 10 participating restaurants in the "Dim Sum" category, Executive Chef Lau Chi Kit of Hoi Yat Heen Chinese Restaurant was awarded the Silver Award in the Dim Sum category.


The finale of Culinary Awards consisted of 4 categories, namely the "Dim Sum", "Rice", "Thick Soup" and "Vegetable". With the talented cooking skills and innovative ideas, Executive Chef Lau has won the Silver Award by showcasing the creative "Dim Sum and Dessert Combo" - Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Deep-fried Mashed Taro Stuffed with Whole Abalone and Chilled Strawberry Jelly Filled with Cointreau Orange Juice. The traditional Steamed Shrimp Dumpling is filled with the freshest shrimp and edible gold leave, meanwhile, the mouth-watering Deep-fried Mashed Taro Stuffed with whole Abalone with mushroom, chicken and conpoy is deep-fried in a soft paste with light seasonings until it is covered by a golden layer of crispiness.
